About me
The face behind whiplash queen
Hi! I’m Taya McGovern, the girl behind Whiplash! I’m 28, and I’ve been lashing since I was 20. I still take clients, and offer other lash + brow services! I’ve been around long enough to see this industry change and grow, and I’ve loved every minute of it.
After high school, I attended the Aveda Institute for Esthiology in Minneapolis. While I loved it, I knew I wanted to explore more—my original dream was to work in a medspa, so I started on the path to becoming a nurse. During that time, I met the owner of the salon where I currently work, one thing lead to the next, and I went on to help open and grow another lash salon location in Rochester, MN.
In 2019, We flew to Arizona to take the Whiplash Queen course, and that’s when I fell completely in love with the lash industry. From that moment, I knew lashing, not nursing, was my true passion. Over the years, we’ve grown our team, expanded our skills, and continued to learn and evolve in this exciting world of lashes.
More about me
I am originally from Rochester, MN but now live in Minnetonka MN. Everyone in my life knows that my job is also my favorite hobby but I like to think I do have other hobbies haha! In Minnesota we have tons of lakes so you can find me on the water most of the time or traveling all over with my friends and family. Weekend trips? Sign me up!

I have been teaching lashes for years now and it truly brings me so much joy! While I am still behind the chair taking clients of my own, being able to share my knowledge with others and turning them into successful lash artists is one of the best feelings. Learning lashes can be very intimidating, unless you are set up for success which is my whole goal behind teaching. Watching students thrive and fall in love with the art of lashing is something I will never get tired of!
Teaching isn’t just about technique for me—it’s about supporting and uplifting other women. I believe there’s room for everyone in this industry, and I want to be your biggest cheerleader every step of the way. I’m excited to share the tips, tricks, and knowledge I’ve learned over the years so you can feel confident and empowered in your lash career.
